The Marunouchi area, located between the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station, has been a center of Tokyo for more than 400 years. In addition to serving as a business center, it is also a prime entertainment spot for sophisticated businesspeople as well as tourists from overseas and around Japan. Marunouchi is dotted with a variety of boutiques, restaurants and cafes, plus art museums, theaters and other historical buildings. The third redevelopment of the Marunouchi area started with the Marunouchi Building, followed by projects now in progress including the renovation of Tokyo Station. Through this development the area is now being transformed into an even more appealing place.
